Welcome to Greg Otero Music!

Here you'll find songs I've written (an "ex-hippie" in his seventies), reflecting on life, love, nature, politics, aging, mortality and beyond.

But since I'm not a musician, I collaborated with AI to create music for my words, in all kinds of genres, from Folk, Singer/Songwriter and Rock 'n Roll, to Jazz, Blues, Reggae and more. It was so much fun, I worked on these songs every day, full time, for months! I've never been so absorbed by something, and the ability to put my words to music inspired a huge burst of creativity. A lifetime of thoughts and feelings to express came out! And the bonus is - I actually think I was able to create some pretty good stuff! For those of you that are a part of my gggeneration, I think you might really enjoy a lot of these songs as well.

I know a lot of people are anti-A.I., especially when it comes to creating music. And as someone who just LOVES music, I understand those concerns. But all I can say is that since I'm not a musician, it has been this tool that has enabled me to unleash a creativie spark and finally be able to express myself musically. I now think of myself as a songwriter that has created these songs as Demos. And this has brought me a tremendous amount of joy. And whether I produced thse songs with a little bit of A.I.'s help, or collaboration, the end product expresses MY thoughts and MY feelings. And to me, that's the most important thing! So I hope that's what you can focus on when you listen to these songs. And hey, if you enjoy them, if you like the tune, if you can relate to the words - that's all that really should matter. Who or what helped me write them is the footnote. (Paul McCartney wasn't available to assist.)

Looking Back

My first album, LOOKING BACK, was inspired by one thought... that life is short. I disagreed. The way I see it, is that when we take a good look back at our lives, we can truly see how full and complete our lives have been. And how most of us have a lot to be grateful for.

My second album, RHYTHMS THAT REMAIN, was created using a variety of musical styles, which was intended as a tribute to the many artists that formed the soundtrack of my life. I was inspired from bands like the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead to Earth, Wind & Fire to Bob Dylan, and beyond. With my own lyrics, I then tried to pay homage to the sounds that these artists created.
